VICARAGE ASSOCIATION
ANDERS CHYDENIUS

ANDERS CHYDENIUS
VICARAGE ASSOCIATION

The historic vicarage in Kirkonmäki, Kokkola was the home of Anders Chydenius in the 18th century. Chydenius was a priest, politician, Enlightenment thinker, and an important proponent of classical liberalism in the Nordic countries. He was an early advocate of democracy. He defended the rights of the working class and stood up for freedom of expression and freedom of religion.
The vision of the association is to establish a democracy and cultural centre at the vicarage, and to develop and preserve the museum environment. The association organises lectures, events and participates in projects in the spirit of Chydenius.

Welcome to our Club of Secret Books where we read and discuss literature that has recently been banned or classified as problematic in some parts of the USA. We select together the books to be read in the club.
