The historic vicarage in Kirkonmäki, Kokkola was the home of Anders Chydenius in the 18th century. Chydenius was a priest, politician, Enlightenment thinker, and an important proponent of classical liberalism in the Nordic countries. He was an early advocate of democracy. He defended the rights of the working class and stood up for freedom of expression and freedom of religion.
The vision of the association is to establish a democracy and cultural centre at the vicarage, and to develop and preserve the museum environment. The association organises lectures, events and participates in projects in the spirit of Chydenius.

Utöya
Five members of the board of the Anders Chydenius Vicarage Association went on a study trip to Utøya in August. The trip was made together with the staff of the Time Out Foundation and was supported by the Brita Maria Renlund Foundation and the Swedish Cultural Foundation.
